Cleaning without a plan is a reality for most people. However, this often turns out to be very chaotic. Individual areas are quickly forgotten or there is a lack of regularity to keep them really clean.
A clear cleaning plan is therefore not just something for student flatshares, but is also ideal for your own flat and the whole house. We show you which areas your cleaning plan checklist should include so that your home is or remains pleasantly clean.
A tip in advance: The checklist is not only suitable if you are cleaning yourself, but can also help your Cleaning lady help with the processing.
Finding the right time to clean: At what intervals does it make sense to clean?
Your own home can be very large. However, even if it is rather cosy in your home, there are still many various cleaning tasks to.
Some of them are very comprehensive, but only need to be done infrequently, while others hardly take up any of your time, but should not be missing from your daily or weekly routine.
Tasks to be completed immediately
You should not always take your time to do something later. This is especially true for all those things that become more difficult if you don't do them straight away. You end up losing valuable time instead of saving it.
- Ventilate the bedroom and turn up the bed: this allows moisture to escape, improves the climate and prevents mould from forming. At the same time, an open bed prevents house dust mites from feeling particularly at home.
- Washing pots and pans: If you like to cook, postpone the washing of pots and pans. Washing up not too long. Otherwise, food residues will dry out and make cleaning difficult. The dishwasher can usually be used for pots and pans. However, you must clean the hob yourself with a cloth, water and possibly a cleaner before you can use it again.
- Removing stains: Whether it's a tomato stain on your favourite T-shirt or a spilt glass of wine on the carpet - these things require immediate action to remove stains quickly and effectively.
Cleaning and tidying: this is on the checklist every 2 to 3 days
The Toilet is used several times a day, so bacteria can quickly accumulate here. Therefore, clean them regularly with a toilet cleaner and toilet brush to prevent the formation of urine scale.
In the rest of the home, you should frequently reach for the hoover to Quick and easy to remove dust and dirt. Robotic vacuum cleaners make work much easier, although they reach their limits on different levels.
Weekly tasks: Allow a little more time for cleaning
During the working week, time is usually very tight, so it is often difficult to clean in addition to work. Therefore, take at least one hour at the weekend, but preferably two hours, for a Comprehensive cleaning.
The most important points that should not be missing from your weekly cleaning plan checklist are briefly summarised here:
- Vacuuming and mopping: Always mop after Vacuum cleaningOtherwise, mopping the floors is unnecessarily difficult.
- Bathroom cleaningClean the sink, toilet, shower and bathtub. It is best to start at the bathroom mirror and washbasin and then move on to the shower and bath and finally the toilet.
- Empty rubbish binTake the rubbish to the bin, even if the bin is not completely full. This will prevent unpleasant odours from developing.
Tip: In the summer months, you should take your rubbish to the bin more often. This is especially true if there is food packaging with leftovers in it.
The monthly cleaning plan: Your checklist could look like this
Once a month is a good time to take a little more time for the usual cleaning of your home.
In addition to the routine, you should also wipe down all the tiles in the bathroom (on the walls). Also beat out carpets and wipe over the radiators. In this way, you prevent the heating performance from being negatively affected.
Attention: After one month at the latest, it will also be time for a Change of bed linen. In general, however, we would rather recommend a change every fortnight, in summer even every week.
Rare but important tasks for the cleaning schedule
After about 3 to 6 months, it is time for some additional tasks. These include the complete Wiping out the refrigerator, Cleaning the windows and sorting out storage drawers.
In most cases, more and more food accumulates in kitchen cupboards over time. Regular checks are helpful to ensure that these are not forgotten or replaced.
Tip: Check your household appliances. Change the hoover filter, descale the dishwasher and use a machine cleaner for the washing machine.
