Cleaning Job in Basel
“Cleaning Lady Wanted”—you come across ads like this almost every day in Basel. The demand for domestic help is high and continues to grow. The problem is that employers are focused on price, while cleaning staff understandably want to find a cleaning job that pays a fair wage. Finding the right position that balances these two expectations often takes time and can be stressful.
Apply for a job at a cleaning agency in Basel
One option is to work through a cleaning company in Basel. There, you’ll be assigned to various tasks—cleaning apartments, washing windows, doing dishes, vacuuming, or ironing. The advantage is obvious: you don’t have to worry about finding work yourself. The catch is in the pay, because the agency, as an intermediary, takes a cut of your hourly wage. Whether you’re employed by a cleaning company in Basel or work as a self-employed cleaner—both options have their pros and cons. Ideally, there would be a third option: setting your own hourly wage, work hours, and location while still consistently getting cleaning jobs in Basel—all without having to start a business or spend time on marketing.
Becoming Self-Employed as a Housekeeper in Basel
If you’re looking for a cleaning job in Basel, you can also take the plunge into self-employment. You can secure new cleaning jobs in Basel through your own website, social media, and referrals from family and friends. You then decide for yourself what your hourly wage will be and who you’ll work for. On the other hand, however, there are the costs of advertising—without which it’s difficult to secure regular work—as well as ongoing expenses for your website, bookkeeping, and other business costs.
