Sometimes the job of cleaning lady is rather ridiculed. At first glance, it seems as if everyone is perfectly capable of cleaning their own home. In reality, however, cleaning your own home or cleaning someone else's house is a completely different matter.

Most people know the cleaning products they need at home. However, if you don't have a marble floor at home and now have to clean one, you face your first challenge.

It's no disgrace not to have all cleaning agents in view. However, it is important to familiarise yourself with the various cleaning agents. In this way, damage caused by improper handling can be prevented. How can you clean your home without strong chemicals? Environmentally friendly cleaning is not that easy either.

Special attention is paid to the following areas:

  • Tiles: All-purpose cleaners are not always the best choice. Natural stone floors are particularly sensitive and require special cleaners. Any good cleaner should address potential problems with certain cleaners directly.
  • Wooden floors: Laminate is quite insensitive. Parquet and floorboards, on the other hand, require much more sensitivity.
  • Kitchen worktops: In addition to coated wooden worktops, many high-quality kitchens also have marble or granite worktops. The cleaning agent must always be adapted here.

TipGood language skills are important, as there are usually important instructions for use on the bottle of the cleaner.

Mutual respect: good cleaners respect privacy

Reliability, honesty and politeness are aspects that are of immense importance in our society. This should also apply to the relationship between cleaners and employers. However, a special feature is the very close relationship.

As a cleaner, you enter another family's home and invade their privacy. Most of the time you are unobserved. This makes it all the more important that employers can rely on your discretion.

A good cleaning lady should therefore concentrate strictly on their own tasks. Other areas that are not part of your area of responsibility are simply not relevant to your own work.

Otherwise, reliable cleaners should make sure they have a friendly demeanour. Appearance plays a role that should not be underestimated. Even if you are doing a strenuous job, your appearance should be impeccable. This will show clients that you are as perfectionist about your home as you are about yourself.
